Our Services

Wellness & Vaccinations

We want to be there for your pet – not just when he or she is sick, but to support and promote good health throughout the course of his or her life. We’ve designed our comprehensive wellness care services to help keep our patients happy and healthy through preventative medicine such as annual physical examinations, customized vaccination plans, parasite control and prevention, nutritional counseling, weight management and much more. A commitment to routine wellness care is the greatest gift you can give your animal companion.

The wellness care we provide was specifically developed to assist our patients through every life stage, and address all of their changing health care needs along the way. This means making sure your new kitten or puppy receives all of the necessary vaccinations to stay healthy and strong, the ongoing health of your adolescent and adult dog or cat is closely monitored, and the special care needs of your senior pet are supported. We want to be with you every step of the way to help keep your pet as healthy as possible.

One of the most important components of wellness care is the fact that these visits allow our doctors to identify any potential medical concerns as soon as they occur and address them right away, before they can develop into something that is much more serious and costly. Prevention and early detection of disease can greatly improve the quality and length of your pet’s life, and is a much better way to manage the financial aspect of veterinary care. Rather than incurring the expense of dealing with an illness that’s already progressed, you can vastly cut costs by taking the appropriate measures to prevent that illness from occurring in the first place.

The comprehensive preventative care recommendations for our patients include:

12 Body System Examination – Because pets age seven times faster than humans, a full exam of your pet’s body and internal systems is recommended every six months.

Customized Vaccination Plan – Vaccinations can protect your pet from serious and sometimes life threatening diseases, but not every vaccine is right for every pet. We’ll evaluate your pet’s specific risk factors based on his or her health and lifestyle, and use this information to develop the ideal vaccination plan for your companion.

Preventative Blood Work – Every animal is different, and some pets handle pain and discomfort better than others, which means that your pet could be hiding the signs of a disease or serious illness. Routine and preventative blood work can help us detect the signs that a problem may exist so that we can address it in a timely manner, greatly improving the outcome.

Preventative Dental Care – Keeping your pet’s teeth and gums healthy and clean is an important part of his or her overall wellness. Some foods and pet products can help reduce tartar and plaque buildup, but the only way to truly prevent dental disease is through preventative dental care, both professionally and at home.

Parasite Prevention – Companion animals are at risk of becoming targets for a wide variety of parasites, from internal pests like heartworms to external nuisances like fleas and ticks. Some parasites can even be passed on from animals to their human companions, placing others in your home at risk as well. Let us develop a personalized parasite prevention plan that will keep your pets and your family safe.

Nutrition – What you feed your pet can have a tremendous impact on his or her overall wellness. Proper nutrition is necessary for growth, to provide energy for play and exercise, and to maintain good health. What’s more, many of the medical conditions that can affect our pets can be managed through a proper diet and exercise. As part of your pet’s routine wellness visit, we’ll provide specific recommendations for a diet that will help them achieve and maintain optimum health.

Grooming and Bathing – Regular bathing and grooming will help keep your pet as healthy on the outside as he or she is on the inside. Grooming promotes healthy skin, a clean coat and reduces many of the unpleasantries of owning a pet, such as odor and shedding. It also helps our doctors and care team to identify any potential problems with your pet’s skin as well as the existence of external parasites so they can be addressed right away.

Most importantly, wellness visits provide our staff with the opportunity to get to know you and your pet better and to ensure that you remain abreast of your pet’s health care at all times. We strive to include our clients in every decision concerning the well-being of their animal family members and invite you to ask any questions that may be weighing on your mind so that we can continue to provide the most personalized care available. Together we’ll form a health care team that will work hard to help your pet enjoy a long, happy and healthy life by your side.

Diagnostics

When our animal companions are sick or injured, the root of the problem cannot always be determined through an external physical exam. To properly diagnose and treat whatever may be ailing your pet, our doctors must be able to look below the surface and learn exactly what’s happening inside your pet’s body. Veterinary diagnostics provide us with all the tools necessary to reach a timely diagnosis so that an appropriate treatment plan can be established and implemented, improving the outcome for our patients.

We utilize a broad range of veterinary diagnostic services to help us stay on top of the ongoing health of our patients. Whether it’s a routine test, such as blood work or urinalysis, or something more in-depth, like x-ray imaging, we are well-equipped to solve even the most challenging of cases so we can get your pet back on the road to good health again as soon as possible.

Our state of the art facility features a convenient in-house laboratory, which provides our doctors with the ability to run many diagnostic tests right at our clinic and receive the results quickly. This is especially important for certain illnesses or injuries for which a quick and accurate diagnosis is critical. For those situations in which more extensive or specialized diagnostic testing is warranted, we have close working relationships with a number of quality outside labs which provide timely and accurate test results.

We are able to perform basic blood and parasite testing, dermatological tests, testing for infectious disease and blood allergy testing. We are also able to test for a variety of diseases such as diabetes, thyroid disease, and adrenal gland disease in both our feline and canine patients Rest assured that whatever may be bothering your furry companion, we’re prepared to do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of it.

We perform the following routine and advanced diagnostic tests in-house for our patients:

  • Blood Work

  • Parasite Testing

  • Testing for Infectious Disease

  • Allergy Screening

  • Urinalysis

  • Fecal Testing

  • Digital Radiology (X-ray)

  • Dental X-ray

In cases for which our veterinarians feel that your pet would benefit from more extensive or specialized testing, we have developed relationships with a number of high quality external laboratories where we can send your pet’s tests and be confident of a timely and accurate result.

Rest assured that whatever may be bothering your animal companion, we’re prepared to solve even the most challenging of cases with speed and accuracy and help return your pet to good health as soon as possible.

Dentistry

Many otherwise caring and responsible pet owners fail to realize the importance of caring for their pet’s teeth. Contrary to popular belief, bad breath isn’t something that all companion animals have or must suffer from. In fact, foul breath can actually be a sign that your pet is suffering from dental problems, including plaque and tartar buildup and possibly even periodontal disease. You can help keep your pet’s mouth healthy and clean by investing in quality pet dentistry.

We have all of the dental care services your animal companion needs to enjoy a lifetime of good oral health, from preventative care to the treatment of existing oral problems. We regularly perform routine dental prophylaxis using high speed and ultrasonic instruments which allow us to clean and polish your pet’s teeth to a healthy shine. If necessary, we have the ability to conduct dental x-rays, which can help us further evaluate your pet’s dental health.

In addition to preventative dental care, our highly skilled staff is also able to perform a number of advanced procedures, such as the extraction of loose or broken teeth, and the treatment of a variety of existing diseases, such as gingival hyperplasia. Even if your pet has never received routine dental care, it’s never too late! We can help get any existing problems under control and get your pet on the road to a lifetime of good oral health.

Some signs that your dog or cat may be struggling with dental disease include:

  • Bad breath

  • Discolored, broken or loose teeth

  • Red, swollen or bleeding gums

  • Difficulty chewing food; reluctance to play with chew toys

If you notice your pet exhibiting any of these signs, it’s time to schedule an appointment for a dental exam.  It’s important to note that animals undergoing any type of dental procedure must be anesthetized. As part of our commitment to providing optimal pet care, all dentistry procedures include pre-anesthetic blood work, IV catheter placement with fluids, and cardiopulmonary monitoring during the procedure to ensure patient safety and comfort at all times. We also use local anesthetic blocks to perform extractions, and can prescribe an oral pain medication to help alleviate any discomfort your pet may experience when they return home following a dental procedure.

In addition to our professional pet dentistry services, we also place a strong emphasis on home dental care. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff is happy to work with you, providing product advice and offering demonstrations of techniques that you can use at home to keep your pet’s teeth and gums healthy in between vet visits. Let us work with you to help your companion enjoy a happy, healthy smile for life!

Surgery

We recognize that bringing your pet in for surgery, regardless of how simple and routine the procedure may be, can be a stressful time for you both. That’s why our surgical team works so hard to make each and every procedure performed within our hospital as comfortable and stress-free an experience as possible. We want to set your mind at ease and help you to feel confident that your pet will be in compassionate, capable hands with us!

Our highly skilled, experienced veterinarians are able to perform a wide variety of animal surgeries, from routine spays and neuters to more complex procedures, using the most up to date techniques and modern equipment. We never want to place our patients at risk, and we take every precaution necessary to ensure their safety and comfort at all times while in our care. To that end, all surgical patients are thoroughly examined and tested prior to surgery to ensure that they are healthy enough to proceed.

Once your pet is cleared for surgery, we’ll do everything within our power to make sure he or she is as calm and comfortable throughout the process as possible – from the moment you drop them off until you return to pick them up. We’ll develop a customized pain management plan that is tailored to your pet’s unique needs, and administer all medications with precision and care. We want to ensure that each patient we serve receives the best possible surgical care in a way that places their safety, comfort and well-being as the highest priority.

During surgery, patients are kept comfortable on our heated surgical tables. Our doctors adhere to the strictest protocols of safety and care and employ the most up to date techniques to achieve optimum results for our patients. What’s more, our highly skilled veterinary technicians are always on hand to assist with surgery as needed, and to monitor your pet’s vital signs, including heart rate, EKG, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.

When surgery is complete, your pet will be moved to our recovery area, where he or she will be made as comfortable as possible in an individual bed. Once your pet is situated, we will reach out to advise you on how everything went and arrange a time for you to come retrieve your pet. When you arrive, we will discuss our aftercare instructions, including an appropriate pain management plan, to ensure as pain-free a recovery as possible for your pet.

Whether your companion is coming in for an elective procedure, such as a spay or neuter, or requires more immediate and/or medically necessary surgical care, our doctors and staff will be with you and your companion every step of the way to ensure a stress-free and successful experience. Let us assist with all of your pet’s surgical care needs.

Nutrition & Weight Management

Good nutrition and a healthy weight provide a solid foundation upon which your pet can enjoy a long, healthy life. Yet with so many food choices available today, how can you know for sure that you’re feeding your pet the best possible diet to support their nutritional needs? What about exercise? What types of activities would be best to keep your pet in tip-top shape? We can help get your pet on the right track through our professional animal nutrition and weight management services.

Our veterinarians are experienced in all aspects of animal nutrition and can evaluate your pet based on age, weight, activity level, special needs, or disease status to provide you with a customized nutritional plan. We can even provide guidance on how to use proper nutrition as a way to manage the existence of certain diseases and medical conditions, often decreasing the need for medications and improving quality and length of life. Our hospital carries a full line of prescription and maintenance diets for your convenience.

In addition to nutritional balance, your pet’s weight also plays an important role in his or her overall well-being.

Companion animals that carry even just a few extra pounds can be at a much greater risk of developing a number of serious and sometimes life threatening diseases, such as diabetes and arthritis. We can help reduce this risk by providing you with a personalized exercise plan that will keep your pet moving and help them achieve and maintain their optimum weight.

Let us work with you to develop a diet and exercise plan that will help bring out the very best in your four-legged friend!
