Wellness & Vaccinations
At Noah’s Brandywine Animal Hospital, we truly believe that the best thing you could ever do for your cherished pet is to provide them with quality wellness care throughout their lifetime. Veterinary care isn’t just for when your pet is sick, but rather it’s something your pet should receive on a regular basis to help prevent illness, and to extend and improve his or her quality of life. The wellness services provided at Noah’s have been designed to address the unique needs of our patients as they age, from puppy and kitten-hood right through the golden years, and every milestone along the way.
We have created a comprehensive yet affordable system of care that will support your pet’s ongoing health over the course of his or her lifetime. We provide a wide range of services, from routine physical exams to nutritional and behavioral counseling. We’re prepared to do whatever it takes to help your companion enjoy a lifetime of good health.
One of the biggest benefits of making a commitment to routine wellness care is the opportunity these annual or semi-annual visits provide for our doctors to identify and address potential medical concerns before they develop into a more serious and costly problem. Early detection of disease is critically important, because it can vastly improve the chances of a positive outcome for your pet. It’s also much less expensive to prevent and address early onset of illness than it is to treat it once it’s progressed.
The comprehensive wellness and preventative health care recommendations for patients of Noah’s Brandywine Animal Hospital include:
-
12 Body System Examination – Wellness visits include a thorough physical exam by checking all twelve body systems. This is recommended every six months since our pets age seven times faster than we do.
-
Customized Vaccination Plan – Vaccinations play a vital role in protecting your pet from a variety of serious and sometimes even life threatening diseases. Not every vaccine available is right for every pet, however. As part of your pet’s wellness visit, we’ll carefully consider the specific risk factors of your companion based on age, health and lifestyle so that we can develop a vaccination plan that is tailored to meet your pet’s unique needs.
-
Preventative Blood Work – With many animals, it can be difficult to recognize the signs of a potential medical problem on the surface of the skin. Wellness visits include routine and preventative blood work to help us identify any potential concerns so we can address them in a timely manner.
-
Preventative Dental Care – Good oral health goes hand in hand with routine wellness care, and is an essential part of our routine health care services. We’ll examine your pet’s teeth and gums, and provide recommendations for dental care products and techniques you can use to keep your pet’s mouth healthy at home.
-
Parasite Prevention – Without the proper protection, your pet could be susceptible to a wide variety of dangerous parasites, both internal and external. Some parasites can even be passed along to the humans in your home, placing everyone at risk. We’ll develop a customized parasite prevention plan to keep your pet and your family safe.
-
Nutrition – Proper nutrition can help extend your pet’s life and keep them healthy throughout the years. It can also assist in managing a variety of existing illnesses and diseases, sometimes reducing or even eliminating the need for medication. As part of your pet’s routine wellness care, we’ll provide advice and guidance to ensure you’re feeding your pet the right diet to support their ongoing good health.
-
Grooming and Bathing – Keeping your pet healthy on the outside is just as important as how well they are on the inside. Routine grooming promotes healthy skin and a clean coat, and provides us with the opportunity to identify and address potential skin problems and/or the existence of any external parasites.
Finally, but perhaps most importantly, bringing your pet in for regular checkups provides us with the opportunity to get to know you and your pet better and to develop the important lifelong bond between doctor and patient. The better we understand you and the needs of your pet, the more customized approach we can provide and the better the quality of care we can offer. We want to become your trusted partner in all of your pet care needs, and to help your pet enjoy a long, happy and healthy life by your side.

Dentistry
Healthy gums and clean teeth are the cornerstones of wellness and good health for your pet. Without the proper care and attention, your pet’s mouth can become a haven for bacteria, which can lead to everything from bad breath and tooth loss to dental disease, a serious condition that can affect your pet’s entire body. At Noah’s Brandywine Animal Hospital, we take the oral health care of our patients seriously, and we have all the pet dentistry services you need to help your companion enjoy a lifetime of good oral health.
Our highly skilled team of veterinary professionals are experienced in every aspect of pet dentistry, from preventative dental care, including exams and cleanings, to the treatment of existing oral health problems, such as gingivitis and extractions. We offer routine dental prophylaxis, using state of the art, ultrasonic instruments to help keep our patients’ teeth clean and healthy. If necessary, we also have the ability to take x-rays of your pet’s mouth to further identify, diagnose and treat potential dental problems
Along with our extensive line of preventative dental care services, we also perform a variety of advanced procedures to address existing oral health problems, including extractions and the treatment of disease. Whatever dental problems are affecting your pet’s health and well-being, we’re here to help!
Some of the signs of dental problems include:
-
Bad breath
-
Discolored teeth
-
Teeth that are broken, cracked or loose
-
Red, swollen or bleeding gums
-
Difficulty chewing food and/or reluctance to play with
chew toys
If you notice your pet showing one or more of these symptoms, give us a call to schedule an appointment for a dental exam.
Please note, all pets undergoing any kind of dental procedure will need to be placed under general anesthesia, for their safety and ours. In order to ensure that this process goes as smoothly as possible, all patients receive pre-anesthetic blood work, IV catheter placement with fluids, and cardiopulmonary monitoring throughout the procedure to ensure their safety and well-being at all times. Other types of pain medication, such as local anesthetic blocks, may also be used, and we may prescribe oral pain medication to bring home should your pet require it following a dental procedure.
Of course, quality pet dental care doesn’t just occur within the walls of our clinic. We also believe that there are things that you can and should be doing at home to help keep your companion’s mouth healthy and clean in between vet visits. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff will work with you to provide advice on products you can try as well as at-home dental care tips and techniques that you can use. Together we will work hard to help your pet enjoy a healthy smile for life!

Diagnostics
Because our pets cannot speak, they can’t always let us know when they’re feeling sick or have suffered an injury. What’s more, many pets are able to tolerate pain much better than you may realize, making it difficult to detect when something might be wrong. It’s up to us, as caring pet parents and experienced veterinary professionals, to be able to recognize that a problem may exist and take the appropriate measures to address that potential problem. Noah’s Brandywine Animal Hospital uses a wide variety of advanced veterinary diagnostics to help us manage the ongoing health of our patients.
Whether it’s a routine blood test or something more in-depth, like an x-ray or ultrasound image, we’re well equipped to diagnose and treat whatever may be ailing your pet so we can get them back on the path to good health again as soon as possible. Our state of the art clinic also features a convenient in-house laboratory, which aids in the fast and accurate retrieval of test results. With many medical conditions, time is of the essence. The sooner we can get to the bottom of what’s bothering your pet, the better the chances of a positive outcome.
In some instances, our doctors may determine that more extensive or specialized testing might be necessary in order to reach an accurate and timely diagnosis. Noah’s Brandywine Animal Hospital has developed close working relationships with a number of quality outside laboratories, where we can send out our tests to be processed. These labs understand the importance of a fast and accurate turnaround, and work tirelessly to ensure that they return the results to us as quickly as possible.
Some of the routine and advanced diagnostic tests that can be performed at Noah’s Brandywine include:
-
Blood Work
-
Parasite Testing
-
Testing for Infectious Disease
-
Allergy Screening
-
Our testing enables us to screen for a variety of medical conditions that may be present but difficult to detect through an external exam, such as thyroid disease, adrenal gland disease and diabetes. Rest assured that if your pet is injured or sick, we’re well equipped and fully prepared to get to the bottom of even the most challenging of cases so we can help return your companion to his or her normal, healthy lifestyle again as soon as possible.
Surgery
We offer an extensive range of surgical services, from routine to complex, all performed by our highly skilled veterinarians who always adhere to the highest standards of safety and care. In addition to our experienced doctors, our well trained support staff of veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants are on hand to assist with surgery and monitor our patients. At Noah’s Brandywine, the safety and comfort of our surgical patients is always our highest priority.
Prior to any procedure being performed, all patients receive a thorough exam, including in-depth diagnostic testing, to ensure that they are well enough to undergo surgery. We never want to place our patients at risk, especially those that are older or who may suffer from existing medical conditions. We’ll take every measure necessary to deliver a surgical experience that is as safe and effective as possible.
During surgery, patients are kept comfortable on our heated surgery tables and their vital signs, such as heart rate, EKG, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation are closely monitored by our highly skilled technicians using the most modern equipment available. We use only the safest available anesthetic products, and tailor our pain management approach to each patient’s unique needs. Our doctors deliver surgical care with precision using the most up to date techniques. All of this allows us to achieve the best possible outcome for your pet while keeping them as safe and comfortable as possible throughout the process.
Once surgery has been completed, patients are relocated to our serene recovery area, where they will continue to be monitored as they come out of the anesthesia. A member of our friendly staff will contact you to explain how the procedure went and to arrange for you to come pick up your pet. When you arrive, we’ll go over any post-operative care instructions that we have, including an appropriate pain management plan to help your pet recover comfortably.
Whether you’ve chosen to have an elective surgery for your pet, like a spay or neuter procedure, or the surgery required is of a more urgent and medically necessary nature, our surgical team will be here to ensure that the process goes as smoothly as possible for you both. Whatever your pet’s surgical care needs, we’re here to help!
Nutrition & Weight Management
Providing your pet with proper nutrition can go a long way toward keeping them happy and healthy throughout the course of their entire life. In many cases, the right nutritional balance can even help to manage existing diseases in a way that minimizes symptoms and improves quality of life. The highly skilled staff at Noah’s Brandywine Animal Hospital is experienced in all aspects of animal nutrition and can provide you with all the guidance, advice and recommendations needed to get your pet on the path to great health.
We’ll start by conducting a thorough analysis of your pet’s lifestyle, health, age, weight and other important factors to determine what his or her individual nutritional needs are. We’ll then use this information to develop a customized diet plan, which may include prescription food, to help maximize your pet’s health and performance and bring out their very best. We’ll also provide guidance on how much food you should be serving your pet, and how often, to avoid overfeeding and the potential for weight gain.
In addition to your pet’s diet, physical activity should also play an important role in his or her daily routine. Even animals that are older or who suffer from medical conditions still need exercise to stay healthy and fit. Our well trained staff can help develop the ideal exercise plan that is perfectly suited to meet your pet’s unique needs and will help them achieve and maintain their ideal body weight.
Let us develop a customized diet and exercise plan that will help your pet achieve optimum health for life.
